Matthias

Matthias

February 11, 2016, Ou Skip Caravan Park, Melkbosstrand, Cape Town

We had already seen the medium-sized four-wheel drive camper van behind the bushes – but no one was there. Then suddenly a voice: “Hello, just wanted to see who you are and where you’re from.” We spend two exciting evenings with Matthias in Cape Town and even more great days and evenings on the Elisenheim farm near Windhoek.

He built his VW MAN truck with a total weight of 8.5 tons himself and goes into raptures about it – we go into raptures too. The vehicle is parked at Elisenheim and Matthias travels around southern Africa for several months of the year. He is still working, he says – we can’t quite take his word for it. After all, the photos also show that he doesn’t actually want to go back to Europe.

Later we met in the Drakensberg – in Clarens with fine coffee and delicious cakes. We are convinced that there will be even more encounters.
